On April 1, 2025, IAsMA proudly launched its new Expert Talk Series with an engaging and inspiring lecture by Yossi Ben, CEO of Amorphical, a leading Israeli biotech company at the forefront of innovation in space-driven health technologies.

A New Frontier: Nano-Amorphous Minerals and Human Health
In his talk, titled “The Contribution of Nano-Amorphous Minerals to Nutrition, Human Health and Longevity,” Yossi presented an exciting overview of Amorphical’s pioneering research. While the company’s work originated from the challenges of spaceflight, its implications extend far beyond the bounds of microgravity.

The lecture introduced attendees to Amorphous Calcium Carbonate (ACC), a unique compound developed by Amorphical that shows potential to preserve and even increase bone and muscle mass in extreme conditions like space. These discoveries not only support astronaut health on long-duration missions but also hold promise for innovative treatments on Earth, including for osteoporosis and muscle-wasting conditions.

Connecting Students to Innovation in Aerospace Medicine
Held in Hebrew, this first Expert Talk gave students and IAsMA members the opportunity to hear directly from a biotech leader applying space research to real-world medical challenges. The session was highly engaging, with participants asking insightful questions and gaining a deeper understanding of the vital connection between aerospace medicine and human health innovation.
