We exist to position Israel as a meaningful contributor to global aerospace medicine. We connect people, raise awareness, and unlock the potential of Israeli innovation in space health. Through education, research, and strategic partnerships, IAsMA lays the foundation for a future where Israel plays a vital role in advancing health and human performance in extreme environments.
What Is Aerospace Medicine?
It is not just medicine for astronauts.
Aerospace medicine is a multidisciplinary field that brings together medicine, biology, engineering, physiology, psychology, and computer science to solve one of humanity’s hardest questions: how do humans live, work, and stay healthy in environments we were never built for, and what does what we learn there mean for the rest of us?
Aerospace medicine asks: How does the body adapt to microgravity, radiation, or sustained high-G? How do we protect crews on flights that may last days, months, or years? How do we keep pilots, soldiers, and rescue personnel safe in extreme environments? And critically, what do the answers teach us about Earth-based medicine?
The science of bone loss in microgravity has reshaped how we treat osteoporosis. Research on muscle atrophy in astronauts is informing rehabilitation for stroke patients. Studies of cardiovascular changes in space are advancing how we understand heart disease on Earth. The microgravity environment has accelerated drug discovery, tissue engineering, and our understanding of the immune system.
In other words: aerospace medicine is not a niche. It is a frontier, and the medicine we develop for the journey upward comes back to heal us on the ground.

Our Story
IAsMA was founded to fill a gap. Israel has world-class medicine, world-class aerospace engineering, and a growing space industry, but no dedicated organization connecting these fields into a coherent national platform for aerospace medicine.
We built IAsMA to be that platform: a scientific forum where physicians, scientists, engineers, military aviation experts, educators, and innovators share knowledge, develop programs, and shape the future of the field together. We are young, growing fast, and based in the kind of place where the most important fields get built.
