Founders
Our Founders

Summer Sofer, MD
Founder & CEO, COO
Summer is the visionary founder and CEO of IAsMA, overseeing daily operations and strategic execution. A former national soccer player, she holds a BSc in Physics, an MSc in Microbiology and Immunology, and completed her MD at the Technion. In 2025, she was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree for pioneering aerospace medicine in Israel.

Gil Sofer, MSc
Founder, President
Gil brings over 35 years of experience leading large-scale clinical, biomedical, and administrative technology infrastructure. He holds a master’s degree in Computer Science and provides strategic and technological oversight for IAsMA’s development and long-term planning.

Prof. Mordechai Shimonov, MD
Chairman
Senior surgeon and Head of Surgery at the Bariatric Center, Wolfson Medical Center. President of the Israeli Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ISMBS). His expertise bridges space health research with real-world clinical practice.

Ilan Halevi, Adv.
Board Member
Senior attorney, arbitrator, and notary with over 35 years of experience in commercial law. Holds an MBA. Serves as IAsMA’s legal advisor for governance, compliance, and organizational stewardship.

Julia Attias, PhD
Board Member
Human and aerospace physiologist researching spaceflight analogs and physiological adaptation. Has collaborated with NASA, ESA, and the UK Space Agency, and brings expertise in research development and scientific education to IAsMA.

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Dov “Dubi” Ofer
Board Member
Retired IAF fighter pilot and airline captain with over four decades of aviation leadership. Flew F-16s operationally and later commanded Arkia and El Al aircraft including the 737, 767, and 777. Holds a BA in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technion and an MA in Business Management from Ben-Gurion University.

Dr. Linda Rubinstein, PhD
Board Member
Neuroscientist and Principal Investigator at the Joseph Sagol Neuroscience Center, Sheba Medical Center. Former NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at Ames Research Center. Recipient of NASA’s Honor Award for the Space Omics and Medical Atlas.

Sharon Ohad Molcho
Director of Marketing & BD
Sharon leads IAsMA’s public outreach, marketing, and stakeholder engagement. She strengthens visibility, builds strategic relationships, and aligns IAsMA’s mission with Israel’s aerospace and health innovation ecosystem.

Sky Sofer, M.S.Ed.
Director of Educational Development
Sky leads pedagogical strategy for IAsMA’s educational programs, focusing on curriculum design and science communication from K-12 through university. Holds an MA and BA in English Education and Literacy Coaching.

Dr. Kenneth Cohen, PhD
Director of Aerospace Medicine Education
Ken is a physiologist at the NASA Kennedy Space Center Biomedical Engineering and Research Laboratory and oversees NASA KSC’s medical education program. He guides content development at IAsMA and mentors students.

Boaz Sternfeld
Director of Technical Development
Senior lecturer and lab manager at the Technion with extensive experience in computational systems, algorithm development, and technological innovation. At IAsMA, Boaz leads technical development for educational technologies and research infrastructure.

Eliran Amar
Director of Strategic Operations
Extensive experience in applied research and multidisciplinary R&D in the medical device domain. At IAsMA, Eliran develops applied educational, research, and collaboration frameworks, supporting the association’s role in aviation and extreme-environment medicine.
Advisory
Strategic Academic Advisory Committee
IAsMA is guided by a Strategic Academic Advisory Committee composed of experienced professionals at the intersection of research, education, and aerospace medicine. This group provides essential insight on developing and integrating aerospace medicine education in Israel.
Their guidance helps shape IAsMA’s national educational direction and ensures the field is introduced thoughtfully, strategically, and with integrity, so Israel can build the knowledge base needed to lead in this growing and multidisciplinary field.
